Media Relations

The Irish Academy of Public Relations (incorporating Elton Communications) has a long established history of handling public relations for corporate clients, SMEs and individual artists and politicians.

Since 1985 we have handled a broad range of clients including: Baby and Kids Show, Celtic Linen, Cerebral Palsy Sport, Children at Risk in Ireland (CARI), DAV Ltd, Dairy Crest (UK), Dubarry, Dublin City fm, Energy Awareness Week (for Irish Energy Centre), Euredit (France), Film Base, Gaelscoil Chill Mhantain, Guide Dogs for the Blind, Tony Gunning (artist), Miriam Gallagher (poet & playwright), George Bernard Shaw Museum Trust, Irish Academy of Public Relations, Irish Craft Fair, Irish Direct Marketing Association, Kerrygold Dublin Horse Show (for An Bord Bainne), Mother Hubbards, Network Women in Business Organisation, Ogham Crafts and a Presidential campaign.

Communications Audit (Analysis and Advice)

Since 2000 the Academy’s PR wing has provided specialist communications audit services (analysis, advice and guidance) to corporate bodies and national committees. This analysis involves studying the communications strengths / weaknesses of a business, looking at its corporate branding, sponsorship presence and communications tools such as newsletters / ezines, annual conferences etc.

The recommendations arising range from small, easily implementable proposals (which might have sizeable impact) to larger and more costly proposals. Recommendations include those which can be implemented by the company themselves, and those for which the company may need to seek the assistance of external PR expertise.

Selection of PR personnel and consultants

The Academy provides special assistance to companies seeking to recruit PR and communications personnel including assistance in writing the brief and assessing the applicants in writing and in person.

The Academy also assists in the selection and appointment of PR Consultants – generally, but not exclusively, arising from the communications audit.
