PR Museum

Our director Ellen Gunning visited the PR Museum on Wall Street, New York City, recently. What a thrill!! It is the only museum in the world dedicated to public relations, and it is curated by the wonderful Shelly Spector. Ellen has wanted to visit the museum for years but never seemed to have time when she was in NYC. All that changed this year (2025).

Shelly Spector and her team (including husband Barry) have created an incredible museum.  All of the familiar faces were there, notably Edward Bernays and Ivy Ledbetter Lee, fathers of the craft. The museum is full of PR text books in multiple languages, historic original manuscripts, old typewriters and reel-to-reel footage which is being restored. There was even an original typed, framed press release from Harold Burson announcing the formation of Burson Marsteller in 1953.

It is the only repository in the world where PR historical documents and memorabilia are curated. Well worth a visit next time you are in New York.
